Has Spring arrived?

07-03-2018 | Category: General News

What a difference a week makes! Last week we were hit by The Beast from the East followed by Storm Emma and this week? Has Spring arrived?  It was a tough week for us last week with various cancellations due to the weather, some due to flights being cancelled and some due to uncertain road conditions. Cancellations are always hard for a small business like us, do we stick to our terms and conditions or can we be a little lenient towards our guests. We ended up having both scenarios. A couple where we had no other choice than to charge for the cancellation, with cancellations made a couple of hours prior to arrival and a few where we were able to move the booking to a later date in March.

Let me tell you that we rather not charge for a cancellation in these circumstances, and fortunately we don’t often have this problem. We’d rather have the guest stay with us, being able to see what we do and tell others about it. Charging cancellations can leave a bad taste for our guests, and therefor more than likely a lost future booking. Things are more difficult with bookings made via the 3rd parties, ie etc, as contact goes via them, with less flexibility in terms of discussing solutions with our guests. We love to see our guests book direct with us, as it makes us talk to them, find out why they are here and what we can do to make their stay more comfortable (of course within reason).

Leaving last week and its challenges behind us, we are looking forward to a dry and sunny spring, as we have a garden to attend to and some outdoor painting to complete! Never a dull moment in the life of a B&B owner.

I'm fine with this

We are completing some external painting however as we combine it with looking after you it
will mean that scaffolding will be erected around the building.

As we will be doing the work ourselves, the work is fitted around our guests.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused and we hope you understand.
