Autumn & Winter in Cheshire, The Hive at 52

Hello,

Winter News & things to Do in Cheshire, The Hive at 52. So the Summer has gone, the nights are drawing in and the days are getting shorter. Now that Halloween is behind us, we can finally say it: Christmas is on its way!

It has been a lovely year at our B&B in Weaverham. We have welcomed back so many familiar faces and met plenty of new guests too. We are grateful for every stay, whether it is your first or your fifteenth. To those of you who come back time and again: thank you, it means the world to us.

Our year: Lakes, Spain, France and Italy

We managed plenty of short breaks and a few longer trips this year. We escaped to the Lake District several times over the summer. We also had a two-week holiday taking in Madrid, Barcelona, Avignon, Nice and the Imperia region of Italy, followed by a quick hop to Vienna.

In between, we squeezed in a few concerts and trips to see both of our daughters. Coming home to Cheshire is always a pleasure, though, and we come back with fresh ideas for making your stay even better.

Please beware: bookings through Trivago are not with us

Over the last few weeks, several people have phoned us thinking they had a booking with us. We had no record of any of them, and every one mentioned Trivago.

Please do not book The Hive at 52 through Trivago. A simple way to spot a listing that is not ours: all of our rooms are en-suite, so a cheap room with a shared bathroom is not us.

The safest way to stay with us is to book direct on our website, or simply message us. Most of you already do, and we thank you for it.

Watch out for fake booking messages

If you ever get a WhatsApp, text or email saying something is wrong with your booking and asking you to click a link, it is not from us.

If there is ever a problem with your booking, we will message you directly or, better still, give you a call. We have plenty of security measures in place, but we wanted you to know what to look out for.

Around 80 wooden stalls fill Town Hall Square beside the Cathedral, with the famous black-and-white Rows lit up behind. Entry is free. Go on a weekday before 5pm to beat the crowds.

This year Arley Hall, just outside Northwich, hosts a brand-new light trail based on the Tim Burton film. It is family-friendly and runs after dark.

A frosty walk in Delamere Forest

Wrap up warm for a winter walk through the forest, then warm up in the cafe. In November you can also pick up your Christmas tree there.

Come back to a cosy en-suite room, and in the morning we will have breakfast ready to set you up for the day ahead. Please check dates and book tickets on each venue’s own website before you travel.

Coming soon: a simple guest app (no download needed)

We are creating a simple app for guests who are due to stay or are staying with us. Don’t worry, there is nothing to download at all.

Before we finish it, we would love to know what you would really like to see in it. Directions, breakfast times, local recommendations, something else entirely? Drop us a message and let us know. It would be a huge help.
